Usage and minutes
Your plan includes a fixed number of AI call minutes each billing month. Minutes measure how long motel4 is actively on a voice call with a guest.
Included minutes by plan

Overage rate
Section titled “Overage rate”When you exceed included minutes, additional usage is billed at $0.18 per minute for the remainder of the billing period. Overage appears on your next Stripe invoice.
What counts as a minute
Section titled “What counts as a minute”- Time from when motel4 connects with the caller until the call ends
- Includes hold/transfer setup time while motel4 is still on the line
- Does not include calls that never reach motel4 (e.g. staff answers before forwarding triggers)
SMS messages and dashboard access are included in your plan — they are not billed per message on standard plans.
Tracking usage
Section titled “Tracking usage”Dashboard → Account (or usage widgets on the home screen) shows:
- Minutes used this billing period
- Remaining included minutes
- Projected overage if current pace continues
Check usage weekly during your first month to learn your property’s call volume.
Reducing usage
Section titled “Reducing usage”- Use Ring First, Then AI or After Hours Only so staff handles calls when available — see Business hours
- Keep property details complete so calls resolve without long escalations
- Use forward-on-no-answer instead of forward-all if you only need overnight coverage
Plan changes
Section titled “Plan changes”Upgrading increases your included minutes immediately or at the next cycle depending on your selection in the dashboard. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle.
